why you should do it
When you think of xeriscaping, you might think of intricate desert displays. Truthfully, the term xeriscaping just refers to any type of landscaping that accounts for your region's natural precipitation levels and is "drought-ready". Wouldn't it be nice not to water every day?
how you can do it
- Do some research about native plants in your region. Native plants are the most well-suited for your climate, and there are plenty of options that are appropriately drought-resistant for your climate.
- Plan out your lawn. Things you need to take into consideration include: where your lawn recieves sun and shade the natural contours and drainage patterns of the land, areas for seating, walkways, visual barriers, dining, or play.
- Start drawing up what you'd like your xeriscaped lawn to look like. There are online landscape planning tools avaliable, too.
- When setting up your lawn, consider irrigation systems to save the most water.
